An analog computer is a type of computer that processes continuous data, representing physical quantities as continuous electrical or mechanical signals. Unlike digital computers, which operate on discrete binary digits (0 and 1), analog computers work with a continuous range of values.

These computers perform calculations by measuring physical magnitudes—such as voltage, pressure, temperature, or current—and using them to solve mathematical problems. While they are less precise than digital computers, they are highly efficient for real-time measurements. Common examples include a traditional speedometer, a mercury thermometer, and a slide rule.
