Answer

a) Causes of Road Accidents

Road accidents have become a major concern in Nepal, causing loss of life and property every year. Several factors contribute to this alarming situation. Lack of awareness and discipline among drivers and pedestrians is one of the primary causes. Many drivers violate traffic rules, such as speeding, jumping red lights, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Poor road infrastructure, including narrow roads, lack of proper signage, and inadequate lighting, further aggravates the problem. Defective vehicles, including faulty brakes, worn-out tires, and poor headlights, increase the risk of accidents. Overloading of vehicles, especially in public transport, reduces maneuverability and stability. Additionally, distractions like mobile phones and poor weather conditions such as heavy rain and fog contribute to accidents. Lack of proper emergency services and delayed medical aid also worsen the situation. Addressing these issues through stricter enforcement of traffic laws, public awareness campaigns, and improved road infrastructure is essential to reduce road accidents.
