How many countries are there in Arab League?
1Answer
Member Countries of the Arab League
The Arab League, formally known as the League of Arab States, is a regional intergovernmental organization consisting of Arabic-speaking nations. There are currently 22 member countries in the Arab League.
The organization was established on March 22, 1945, in Cairo, Egypt. It was initially formed by six founding members: Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan (now Jordan), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria, with Yemen joining shortly after. The league's primary purpose is to draw closer the relations between member states and coordinate collaboration between them, to safeguard their independence and sovereignty, and to consider in a general way the affairs and interests of the Arab countries.
The 22 member states are distributed across two continents: Northern Africa and Western Asia. Despite political fluctuations and occasional suspensions of certain members, the official count remains 22.
