b) Short Story: The Farmer and the Magical Lamp

In a small village nestled between rolling hills, there lived a poor farmer named Bhaktapur Singh. Though he worked hard, his crops often failed due to unpredictable weather, leaving his family hungry. One evening, while digging near his field, he stumbled upon an old, rusted lamp. Curious, he wiped off the dust and rubbed it. To his amazement, a genie emerged with a smile.

"I am at your service, master," the genie said. "Ask for anything, and it shall be granted."

Overwhelmed, Bhaktapur Singh hesitated. "I only wish for enough food to feed my family," he replied humbly.

The genie waved his hand, and suddenly, Bhaktapur Singh’s fields were filled with golden wheat. The next morning, his family woke up to a feast—plump chickens, fresh milk, and baskets of fruits. The villagers marveled at his sudden fortune.

But Bhaktapur Singh was a kind man. Instead of keeping all the wealth, he shared food with the hungry and helped the sick. Soon, rumors spread about the magical lamp, and greedy people came to steal it. One night, a thief broke into his hut, but the genie appeared again.

"Why do you want my lamp?" the genie asked the thief.

"To become rich!" the man sneered.

The genie laughed. "Greed brings no happiness. Take this instead—" He handed the thief a single grain of rice. "Plant it, and you will see."

The thief, furious, threw the grain away. The next day, his field was barren, and his family went hungry.

From that day on, Bhaktapur Singh kept the lamp hidden, using its power only to help others. The genie, pleased with his honesty, granted him one final wish: "May your kindness bring you eternal prosperity."

And so, the poor farmer lived happily, not because of wealth, but because of his good heart.
