Short Story: "Honesty is the Best Policy"

One sunny afternoon in a small village, a young boy named Rohan was playing near the riverbank. While exploring, he spotted a shiny golden ring half-buried in the mud. Excited, he picked it up and rushed home, thinking it might be valuable.

Rohan’s father, a wise man, noticed the ring and asked, "Where did you find this?" Rohan hesitated for a moment but then said, "I found it near the river, but I don’t know whose it is."

His father smiled and replied, "Honesty is always the best policy. If it belongs to someone, you should return it."

The next day, Rohan and his father visited the village elder, Mr. Sharma, who had been searching for his lost ring for weeks. When Rohan handed it to him, Mr. Sharma was overjoyed. "God bless you, child! You have a pure heart," he said, hugging Rohan.

From that day forward, Rohan became known as an honest boy in the village. His father’s words stayed with him, and he always chose honesty over greed. Years later, when Rohan grew up, people trusted him because they knew he would never lie or steal.

Moral: Honesty brings trust, happiness, and respect, making it the best policy in life.
