a) Causes of Unemployment

Unemployment is a serious economic and social problem that affects individuals, families, and entire nations. Several factors contribute to this issue. Lack of industrialization is one of the primary causes, as many developing countries, including Nepal, rely heavily on agriculture, which provides limited job opportunities. Population growth outpaces economic development, leading to a surplus of job seekers compared to available positions. Lack of vocational training and education also plays a significant role, as many individuals lack the necessary skills to secure employment in modern industries.

Additionally, economic policies that fail to promote business growth and investment can hinder job creation. Globalization and technological advancements have also disrupted traditional employment patterns, making some skills obsolete while creating new demands that the workforce is not always equipped to meet. Political instability and corruption further discourage foreign and domestic investment, reducing opportunities for job creation. Finally, discrimination and gender biases limit employment prospects for certain groups, such as women and marginalized communities.
